Retreats
For thousands of years, meditators have set aside time for silence, reflection, and the liberation that comes from sustained attention. Our retreats continue that tradition. They are for those who suspect — or know from experience — that meditation can reveal something essential. Intensive practice makes a different kind of seeing possible.
Retreats at the CCE are an invitation to step out of the habits and hurry of daily life and open your whole heart to practice. Many discover that several days of gentle structure and quiet on retreat add up to something surprisingly beautiful. The simple environment reduces the need to make constant choices about things from meals to scheduling. It also offers a rare freedom from the need to interact verbally according to social cues and expectations among other people. All of this adds up to an opportunity for retreatants to experience themselves at a more essential level, while connecting deeply with others who are practicing alongside them.
What to expect is simple: a small group of no more than twelve, “noble silence” (talking reserved for necessity or scheduled meetings), and a steady rhythm of meditation, mindful meals, and rest. Marcy is present throughout to support each person’s practice. The setting is quiet, spacious, and closely connected to nature. In this safe, uncluttered environment, the nervous system can settle and the practice can deepen. Retreats are led by Resident Teacher Marcy, and managed by Chief Land Steward Louie, with the assistance of individual Retreat Managers.

“I can’t say enough about your retreats. In the truest sense, it is a feeling of coming home. This will guide me on my journey onward. I have found a home and a teacher I will always come back to.”

Upcoming Retreats
2026 Retreat Registration Opens in November
Traditional Meditation Retreat
November 8-13, 2025 [SOLD OUT]
March 7-12, 2026
A silent retreat open to Marcy’s students or anyone interested in a traditional meditation retreat with a teacher offering one-on-one interviews, evening talks, and teachings tailored to participants’ needs. A time for deep quiet and internal reflection, the traditional retreat has the most scheduled silent meditation periods of all of our retreat types.
Women’s Retreat
February 6-9, 2026
On certain weekends, we gather as meditators who identify as women. The form is mostly the same as a Traditional Meditation Retreat. What’s different is additional labels that women can drop when they are alone together, further exploring who they really are in each others’ company. Creative movement and rhythm practices are offered, depending on what attendees volunteer to lead.
Connect, Deepen, Explore
May 16-21, 2026
This retreat is intended for meditation teachers to come together and learn from and with each other. As with our traditional retreats, noble silence is observed and Marcy is available for one-on-one interviews. Recorded talks are curated from master teachers and offered nightly. Mindful activities based on the talents of those attending are included in the schedule.
Sanctuary Solo Retreats
Available on Request
For community members who have already attended a CCE retreat and feel called further inward, the Sanctuary program offers a solo retreat opportunity within the same safe container. You’ll be held by the schedule and the land, including twice-daily formal practice and “samu” - a work period to contribute to property upkeep. Teacher check-ins with Marcy are available.
