Embodied Metta

Metta, lovingkindness, is a classical Buddhist practice of steady, unconditional kindness toward oneself and others. It is one of the four Divine Abodes, alongside compassion, equanimity, and sympathetic joy. Embodied Metta brings this practice into the body’s knowing. Rather than reciting phrases at arm’s length, you pay deliberate, gentle attention to the felt sense that accompanies them…the warmth in the chest, the ease in the jaw, the simple rise and fall of breath. In this meeting of intention and sensation, kindness becomes an experience you can recognize and return to.

Now available as a self-paced series, Embodied Metta includes ten video recordings with guidance from Marcy. Originally offered live on Insight Timer and designed for all levels of practice, the course moves through themes like Cultivating Kindness, Befriending the Body, Bliss Breath, Loving-Kindness, Somatic Rest, The Ultimate Kindness, and connecting with a sense of safety and a sense of self. When you’re ready, begin.

“The foundation of metta practice is to know how to be our own friend. According to the Buddha, ‘You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere.’”
